Having hemorrhoids is an extremely common condition that affects at least 50% of people by the time they are 50 years of age.  Unfortunately, it can be excruciatingly painful and uncomfortable, and quite scary if you suffer from internal bleeding hemorrhoids.   There is not a lot more frightening then bleeding from areas that you wouldn’t normally bleed from.   You may not know where to turn for hemorrhoid relief.

To address the pain of hemorrhoids, a few simple steps are usually very effective.   First of all, you will need to decide how severe the pain is.  If you are having mild pain then an over the counter analgesic suppository or cream like those made by Preperation H may be all that you need.  I have personally used there products and they work.   If you are having more severe pain then you will want to take a multi step approach.   The first step should be a cream, suppository, or ointment, as these can give immediate relief.  Next you should apply ice to the area.  There is even a product for this called Hemorr-ice that is very effective.  It is basically a cold pack that inserts into your rectum.   While it sounds uncomfortable it can actually bring you a great deal of relief very quickly and has fantastic customer comments at Amazon.

Another thing that you can do to get fast external hemorrhoid relief is take what are called sitz baths.  These are simply warm baths that you soak your backside in.  If you can soak for 15 minutes twice a day, you should notice a marked improvement, especially if you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid.   You can take a full bath or just soak your backside, just be sure to use only warm water and no soap or bubble bath.   Lastly, Tylenol is a very effective pain reliever for painful hemorrhoids.  It is often overlooked, but can really help to bring releif.

Natural hemorrhiod relief

After you treat the pain of hemorrhoids you will want to also treat the underlying cause.  Most hemorrhoids are caused due to straining while pooping.   You can also get hemorrhoids when you are pregnant due to the increased pressure on the pelvic area.   The pregnancy type generally resolves itself after the baby is born.    Yet another cause is sitting for prolonged periods of time.

There are many popular hemorrhoid treatment products on the market that treat hemorrhoids completely naturally.  Of them all, Venapro is a good choice.  It treats the underlying cause of the hemorrhoids, and people report good results while using it.  I personally have had good results using cod liver oil.  I know it sounds gross, but it has really made a difference in my bowel movements.

There are several simple steps to promote regularity, which greatly reduces hemorrhoidal flare ups.  The first thing is to gradually add fiber to your diet.   Americans in particular are very fiber deficient.  Fiber rich foods include vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains.   One of the best tips I ever got for including enough fiber in my diet is to make half of every meal fruit or vegetables.  This takes the guesswork out of it.  One thing to be sure of though is to work towards that goal.  Make one meal per day half fruit or vegatables and then add from there.  Breakfast is easy, just pour less cereal and top with fruit.

The reason that fiber works so well at helping to prevent hemorrhoids from recurring and really giving both external and internal hemorrhoid relief,  is because it works as a bulking agent, making your stool soft and easy to pass.  If you have ever had any form of hemorrhoids then you know that passing hard stools can be very painful.  It is in your best interest to create a digestive environment where they become soft so that your hemorrhoids have a chance to heal properly.

Finally, if you find that it is particularly difficult to get enough fiber in your diet naturally, you may want to consider adding a bulking agent to your diet such as Metamucil or Fiber One supplements.   These supplements will have the same effect as eating more fiber, but are easier for many people to take.

Hemorrhoid relief is not only possible, but likely.   Following the simple steps above can really give you a great deal of relief and make you feel a whole lot better.   If your symptoms are severe and not responding to home treatments you may want to consider hemorrhoids surgery.  This should always be viewed as an effort of last resort, but can be very effective for those with difficult to treat hemorrhoids.  Consult your doctor for your best options.
