is it haraam to use a medication/cream for a condition that contains haraam ingredients?

asalaam alaikum everyone.♥
so i have hemorrhoids and i bought the preparation H cream for it. i bought the regular one because mine isnt severe. its only mild. but after i bought it i checked the ingredients and it said that there was 3% shark liver oil (to protect the damaged tissue).
i dont know what to do now. im hesitant about this because i dont know of any other product that doesnt require a prescription that will help.
i checked online just now and there is one without the shark liver oil but its for extreme relief and i dont want to use that for a problem that isnt extreme, ya know? like it could be TOO strong.
i dont know what to do. please help.

thank you.♥
its also internal though.

Shark is a type of fish and as you know fishes do not require a dhabh (slaughtering in the name of Allah) to be consumed or utilized for other purposes. Therefore even if a fish is caught dead it is permissible to consume it or use it for other purposes. Therefore shark oil will be considered permissible to be consumed or applied externally in all the cases.

    EDIT:
@Myotsimo please do not comment without proper knowledge. Do some research first. In Islam the criteria for classification of objects and animals is Urf and not philosophy or science. In urf shark is a fish thats all. It does not matter whether it has scales or not. Even whale is considered a fish even though scientifically it is a mammal Therefore it is the unanimous decision of the whole ummah that shark is permissible to be consumed.

    EDIT:
@asker when it is permissible to consume it, it will be permissible to use it internally as well.

shark liver oil is not haram to apply externally. You are not taking it internally.

From what I’ve heard you can use it if it’s the only kind of medication available, and if its absolutely necessary for you to use it.

I was in a similar situation and decided not to take the medication. I would rather suffer than take pill made from a pig!

    Myotismon @ 5:19 am #

If you have no choice, then you can. But since there is another product, I would go with that one.

And to the other user, sharks are haram, they do not have scales.

…I’m confused. Is it a cream or ‘internal’ like a pill or something?

Since it’s for medication, and medical reasons, it should be ok, even if it is internal. You said that there is one with out shark liver oil, but it is too strong. That’d be overdosing, and endangering your health. DON’T take that one! It’s ok to take medication with haraam ingrediants if there’s not another *SAFE* one available.

    hope i helped!

    Turn Inwards.. Turn to kṛṣṇa

kṛṣṇa is the supreme person, the only GOD
kṛṣṇa is the ultimate controller of this material and spiritual energy

    Bhagavad Gītā :

He who does work for Me, he who looks upon Me as his goal, he who worships Me, free from attachment, who is free from enmity to all creatures, he goes to Me

" I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in my devotional service and worship me with all their hearts." (10.8)

whats wrong with shark? Allah tells us all the creatures of the sea are halal….

"It is He Who made the sea subservient to you so that you can eat fresh flesh from it…" (Qur’an, 16:14), "Anything you catch in the sea is lawful for you, and all food from it, for your enjoyment and that of travellers…" (Qur’an, 5:96)
