I am 24. I have chronic constipation/enlarged stool. I have tried EVERYTHING from OTC stool softeners to a high fiber high water diet to Flax meal (the flax gave the most relief as I simply had watery stools for a week). I always dab a bit of witch hazel on the area after a bowel movement as that is the main ingredient in Tucks and other otc products. I have had these problems for as long as I can remember but after my 2 y/o daughter was born it’s become much MUCH worse. I fear going to the bathroom. My stool is far too large to come out without a great deal of pushing which results in a scream of pain and a ripped rectum. I often fill the toilet with blood and continue to find blood on the toilet paper after several hours. I have no health insurance so is there really ANYTHING they can do if I go to the emergency room? Any tips? I’m so young to have such severe stage 4 hemorrhoids that most of my friends just laugh or think I’m gross. I don’t know what to do anymore. My mother has I.B.S. but she always has diarrhea, is this simply the same hereditary condition manifesting in a different way? Am I just screwed?

Ok, this is probably all T.M.I., but I am desperate. I got through childbirth great, no episiotomy or hemorrhoids, but now I am having horrible constipation and dreading going to the bathroom. I am trying to drink a lot of water because I am nursing, but I guess it still isn’t enough to help my digestion. It is very painful and this morning it caused me to bleed. I am not sure if I just have bad fissures or actual hemorrhoids. Please, any relief is welcome. However, I am nursing and it has to be safe for my little boy.
Great advice so far….. how about anything to help relieve the pain in the meantime until all the water and fiber kicks in? I already had a hot bath and used Tucks, is there anything else like a cream that will help numb the area (hey, I can hope, can’t I) ?

I’m 13 years old, and I think I have a hemorrhoid. I’ve researched them, because I was having the symptoms. (Itchy anus, trouble going to the bathroom.) I used a mirror to check it out, and what do you know! It looks like a big hemorrhoid to me.
I’m actually scared. I know it’s no biggie, I’m not going to die, etc. But how to I tell my mom?
"Hey mom. I have a hemorrhoid."
Really?
I’ve heard Preparation H isn’t really treatment. It just makes the swelling go down and give instant relief. If so, how to I make it go away for good?
Thanks so much for your help.
