Hemorrhoids are uncomfortable. They feel uncomfortable and they are not easy for most people to talk about, but the fact is that over 50% of people get them at some point in there lives. If you have them you know how important it is to treat hemorrhoids effectively.
Symptoms of hemorrhoids:
Before you begin treating hemorrhoids you should know for sure that you have them. One of the symptoms is rectal bleeding, which is usually bright red and occurs when you are pooping. Another symptom is pain when you are going to the bathroom, or just pain and itching in the rectal area. These symptoms will almost always indicate hemorrhoids, but should always be checked out by a physician, because they can also indicate certain types of diseases as well.
Treating hemorrhoids:
Most hemorrhoids can be treated at home with a few simple steps. If they don’t respond to home treatment then you will need to speak to your doctor about how to treat hemorrhoids with surgical procedures or other options. Surgery should always be your last resort after you have tried everything else.
Treating internal hemorrhoids: While internal hemorrhoids can be painful that is typically not the case. The only symptom you usually get from this type is bleeding during bowel movements. To treat them you need to look at the root cause of the hemorrhoids. They are generally caused by straining during bowel movements. This is typically because your waste is too hard. To solve this problem the best thing to do is drink more water and add fiber to your diet. If you don’t consume a lot of fiber right now (fruits, whole grains, and vegetables) then you will want to add it in gradually. This will keep you from getting gassy. The easiest way to add more fiber is to make 50% of one meal fruits or veggies. Then gradually make 50% of every meal fruits or veggies. You will be amazed at how much better you feel.
Treating external hemorrhoids: You will want to make the same basic changes in lifestyle to treat external hemorrhoids that you do to treat internal ones. However, you will also want to take a few additional steps, because this type can be very painful. To treat the pain and swelling right away there are a few things that you can do. Ice works wonders, and the products on the market that are meant to treat hemorrhoids are also very effective at immediately reducing the pain and swelling. Finally you will want to take a warm bath at least once a day. You can either take a full bath or just a sitz bath that covers only the affected area. Either way you will get relief.
Treating hemorrhoids effectively is half about changing your habits and half about treating the symptoms.
